Prayer points: Winter 2007

“You can do more than pray after you have prayed . . . but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed . . . prayer is striking the winning blow . . . service is gathering up the results.”

—SD Gordon

We invite you to pray for the following requests on the assigned weeks. We also invite churches to place these weekly prayer requests in their church bulletins on the designated Sunday. Thank you for building the Canadian Mennonite Brethren community of faith in this way. By God’s grace, may we become “healthy growing churches reaching our worlds.”

December 2
Please pray that the MB Herald’s new staff, assistant editor Andrew Siebert and graphic designer Audrey Plew, will experience great joy and creativity in their ministry.
December 9
Pray for the leaders of the Canadian and US Mennonite Brethren conferences as they meet this week in Winnipeg for binational summit meetings. Ask God to bless both conferences, as well their joint ministries, such as global mission and the MB Biblical Seminary.
December 16
Pray for Dave Jackson in the Abbotsford, BC conference office as he oversees the development of healthy churches, trains and coaches regional facilitators, works with transitional pastors, and facilitates overall church revitalization in Canadian MB churches.
December 23
Thank God for coming to us in the person of Jesus Christ. Pray for all our churches across Canada as we celebrate this amazing Christmas gift together.
December 30
Pray for Victor Wall, executive secretary of the International Community of Mennonite Brethren (ICOMB), who is leading many initiatives and projects to help our global church community in confessional understanding and mission.
January 6
Pray for Mario Buscio as he leads Kindred Productions in producing Anabaptist mixed media resources for our church leaders’ and volunteers’ use.
January 13
Praise God for our new churches across Canada. Pray that their leaders will have “power, love, and sound judgment” (2 Timothy 3:18) as they proclaim the winsome message that Jesus transforms lives.
January 20
Please pray for the executive board of the Canadian MB Conference as they meet January 25–26 in Abbotsford, BC. Pray for safe travel to and from the meetings, as well as God’s wisdom and direction for the work of the conference.
January 27
As the Board of Faith and Life meets this week, pray for its members, asking God to grant them sensitivity to his concerns for the conference.
February 3
There is a great need for God’s Word – which cuts across all language and people groups – in the cosmopolitan city of Montreal. Pray for our MB pastors and leaders in that city.
February 10
Scott Street MB Church in St. Catharines is hosting the Ontario MB Convention February 15–16. Let’s pray for our brothers and sisters as they meet to receive encouragement and make decisions.
February 17
Fort Garry MB Church in Winnipeg is hosting the Manitoba MB Conference Convention February 29–March 1. Ask for God’s blessing on this gathering and the decisions made together.
February 24
Pray for the Leading Women’s Conference in Toronto February 28–March 1. The MB conference is one of 13 partners involved in this life-changing event. Pray that those who attend will be inspired and equipped for their areas of leadership.
